Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the questions I get asked. No such thing as a silly question, so if yours isn't answered here, please get in touchI have been building websites and consulting on digital marketing since 2008 and in that time have gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge.
I have put this FAQ page together to answer many of the questions I’ve been asked along the way…
Getting a new website, how does it work?
No problem, that’s why I’m here. You can learn about my time-proven process in my process section.
How much does a website cost?
The cost of a website can vary and depends on a number of factors. Essentially, your investment will reflect what you are trying to achieve.
Having sai that, our website projects generally start in the £1,000 range for basic business sites and range upward depending on your unique needs.
How long does it take to design and build a website?
The time it takes to produce your website depends on the size and complexity of your project and the quality of content that you have ready to go.
As a rough guide, a basic website typically takes around 4 weeks from beginning to end.
What is a domain name?
A domain name is your address on the internet. For example yourcompany.co.uk
What is web hosting?
Web hosting is a service that allows your website to be available on the Internet. It’s essentially having your website files housed on a computer server in a data centre.
Do I need my own domain name and web hosting?
You will need a domain name, and as it will be your website it should be registered to you.
You will also need to host your site somewhere. I’d be happy to do that for you, subject to a separate agreement
Will my website work on mobile devices?
Yes it will.
All the websites I design work great on all devices.
Do you do eCommerce/Online Store websites?
Definitely!
What is a Content Management System?
A Content Management System is a website backend that allows you to add to, change and delete parts of your website yourself, without the need for many technical skills.
A CMS allows you to edit and add pages, images, products or blog entries to your website. No additional software is required – all you need is a web browser and an internet connection.
Do you provide training?
Yes, I provide all my clients with training on how to maintain their website.
However, you might want to consider whether this is the best use of your time and resources. I can provide you with ongoing support through one of my care packages
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is how to get your website higher up the results on search engines such as Google. The higher up the results you are the more traffic (and therefore customers) you’re likely to get.
There are many ways to improve your SEO. It starts with identifying the keywords you want to be found for, and making sure the pages of your website, and the copy on these pages, are focused on them. Well written, keyword rich and appropriate content is the key.
Do you write the content for my site?
It can be better for you to do this as you know your business a lot better than I do. If this is something you’re not comfortable with I can help, though that will, of course, be reflected in my proposal.
Can you design my logo?
Yes. Check out the Graphic Design section of my portfolio to see examples of my work
Can you help me with Social Media and Email Marketing?
Definitely. Let’s include social media and email marketing services as part of your project
